‘Thai massages have been most beneficial & have helped me to de-stress. The range of treatments offered will, I am sure benefit those who wish to visit & participate. I have visited The Shiva Rooms which are easy to find; well appointed, light & airy. I have always felt welcome & look forward to my visits to the rooms.' Lindi Kibbey ‘I have always found Shiva Rooms a pleasure to be in and very user friendly. The fact that everything from mats to blankets is provided for you helps. I have recommended it to other people.' Anthony James Grover 'I took up yoga at Shiva Health about 18 months ago. I have since been introduced to a variety of aspects of yoga practice and feel I have benefited in many ways. For example, breathing and visualization techniques are helping me both relax and concentrate better. Asanas (yoga positions) keep me supple enough to engage in active sports like tennis without injury. The venue at Shiva Rooms in Kingston is welcoming and attractive and my only regret is not starting yoga earlier in life!' Valerie Nunn |
A recent report by the chartered institute of Personnel and Development
found that about one third of sick leave is not genuine and costs the economy
on average about £12 billion every year.
For the first time in 2004, work related stress, not back pain, was shown
to be the number one reason for lost workdays in the UK. The Health &
Safety Executive (HSE) are taking the issue very seriously. The HSE’s
key messages on stress are:
• Work related stress is a serious problem for organisations. Tackling
it effectively can result in significant benefits for organisations.
• There are things organisations can do to prevent and control work
related stress.
• The law requires organisation to take action.
The challenge for you as an employer is keeping staff happy and motivated. Many organisations are now taking positive steps to ensure that their employees are more effective in the workplace by offering opportunities to relax and revitalise through yoga, massage & holistic therapies. Some organisations subsidise the classes or holistic therapies in full or in part, whilst others just simply provide the space and allow employees to pay individually.
Shiva Health can offer your employees the opportunity to achieve good health, harmony, balance & total wellbeing through regular yoga classes, treatments & healthy living talks/workshops either in the relaxing surroundings of Shiva Health or at your workplace.
In order to truly relax, we recommend that your employees attend classes or receive treatments at Shiva Health, Kingston-upon-Thames, where the environment is conducive to healing & relaxation. This way, employees can get away from their work environment, which is often the cause of their stress, tension & health problems.
Yoga classes & treatments can be organised at lunchtimes, after work or at another time that suits the needs of your organisation. Shiva Health can also tailor the class & treatment times to meet your organisations specific needs, e.g. a monthly ‘rejuvenation’ timeslot (afternoon/morning/whole day) specifically set aside for your company’s employees to book their appointments.
We can also offer a FREE ‘taster’ session including a yoga class & holistic therapies, so your company can experience first hand what we do before making any further commitment. Please contact us if you would like to offer this experience to your employees either at Shiva Health or at your workplace.
All our therapists and teachers are fully qualified, experienced and have the knowledge and expertise to empower your employees to look after their health. Insurance certificates and qualifications are available on request.
We also offer a corporate membership scheme, where members will benefit from discounted classes & therapies and have access to special promotions & offers. Employers will be able to pay for their employees’ Shiva Health membership in full or in part and in doing so ensure their employees remain healthy, happy & productive. I have attached more details about the scheme and a leaflet for your information.
If you would like to meet to discuss your particular needs further, please do not hesitate to contact Abhijeeta or Steph on 020 8549 8637. We look forward to hearing from you with regard to offering our services to your organisation and helping your employees become more productive, happy and effective in all areas of their life, not only the workplace.
Stress produces symptoms that reduce life expectancy and the government are taking this seriously! Actively reducing stress and promoting holistic health will keep the workforce healthier and more productive. We can help each worker to create his or her own solutions to reduce stress, prevent crisis and promote good health. Happy staff makes for a happy and healthy company that is reflected in the balance sheet!
Research demonstrates that workers who are supported at time of crisis
take fewer sick days, and remain productive, and do not affect morale compared
to those that are left to cope alone. Once feeling better, they feel loyal
to the company for helping them and so become an advocate.
Why should we bother?
Sadly we are living in a litigation culture. Legally, employers have a duty
to ensure the Health and Safety of their workers. The legislation is about
to become a lot tougher and will soon include stress. Joining Shiva Health
is a proactive way of ensuring that due care and attention is given to these
issues (especially as the company can evidence all the positive measures
taken to promote a healthy workplace and workforce)
"HOLISM" is a relatively recently rediscovered concept in the field of medicine. Within the framework of holistic medicine health is defined as "a positive, balanced state of both mental and physical well-being". Therefore holistic approaches to health focus on the harmony of mind, body and spirit, treating the person as a "whole." Health is a dynamic equilibrium the balance of which adds an extra quality to the whole person.
