What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient art of healing by light touch. The word Reiki in Japanese consists of two words, rei, meaning universal energy ”and ki, meaning life energy'. Life energy ”is an energy which animates us all and is found all around us. Reiki healing uses "universal life energy", channelled through the practitioner to the recipient. Reiki stimulates the life energy in us, which triggers the body's natural healing abilities, and improves and maintains health.

Reiki is a holistic and natural form of healing that attains and promotes wholeness of the mind, body and spirit . Reiki aids the healing process and balances the body's energy. Reiki energy goes exactly where it is needed, releasing and clearing blocked energy, cleansing the body of toxins and to create a state of balance. Reiki is outwardly very simple, but is inwardly powerful, as it goes to the deeper levels of a person to bring about harmony.

How does Reiki healing energy work?

When our flow of "life energy" is blocked or unbalanced, emotional or health problems can to occur. On the other hand, if life energy is high and flowing freely, we are able to maintain health and well being. Reiki healing energy provides a way to balance energy fields and energy centres (or charkas), to create conditions needed for the body to heal.

The Reiki practioner channels the “universal life energy”to flow into the patient to where it is needed to bring the energy centres into harmony. In this way t he individual takes responsibility for his or her healing as the recipient draws in the energy they need. In this way, Reiki removes energy blockages, brings the body into balance and creates a deep relaxation by helping the body to release stress and tension.

What is a Reiki treatment like?

Receiving a Reiki treatment is simple and non-invasive. You relax fully clothed on a couch while the practioner lightly places their hands on you and channels the universal energy to you. A t reatment lasts for one hour. A full treatment is given covering all the fundamental organs of the body and charkas. The universal energy flows wherever it is needed. Most people feel a pleasant sensation of warmth or a gentle tingling in the body. As the patient's energy comes into balance, stress and tension are released and there is a deep sense of relaxation and well being.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments given depends upon the root cause of the problem and the amount of energy needed to restore well being, so the number and frequency of treatments varies depending on the needs of the client.

How can Reiki help me?

Reiki is a natural, safe and non-invasive form of healing that can benefit everyone! including pregnant women, children and the elderly. Reiki healing is a natural therapy that gently balances life energy, increases vitality, health and well being. Karuna Reiki

Karuna Reiki is the Embodiment of Compassionate Action.

This Reiki System was devised by William Lee Rand of the International Center for Reiki Training. Anyone can receive a Karuna Reiki Healing - but only Reiki Masters can undertake the training.

Karuna enhances Reiki practice by providing an additional 11 symbols for specific uses. For example there are symbols for, preparing to receive healing, to protect, to shed light on shadow, to heal addictions, to ground, to bring peace, to support manifestation, to help ground in the lower chakras - the higher wisdom. etc.

Karuna Reiki is very powerful and palpable as an energy healing. It helps us to reclaim our compassion for our selves, for the child that we once were and for all that we are. It can help us to reclaim parts of ourselves that we have exiled to ‘shadow’, to the aim of becoming more rounded and compassionate people.

Practitioner Approach

Karuna Reiki is incredible. Each symbol has a consciousness and strength of it’s own. Undertaking Reiki treatments - the symbols come in and out of consciousness by their own volition. At times I use some of the symbols consciously, setting up space, attunements or for specific issues that need healing ie. addiction - however, most of the time I let the symbols direct me as they have an intelligence all of their own. Similar to Reiki Healing with the presence and vibration of stronger energies.

My name is Sue Hopkins and I have been developing my skill base and knowledge as a Holistic Therapist, BodyWorker and LightWorker since 2000. At this time I became impassioned and devoted to raising my self-awareness and understanding of our bodies, our psychology and the seemingly dual nature of our human spirit. I now offer an extensive menu of treatments and classes to support the release of life-negating conditions of Body, Mind, and Spirit. I also use the diagnostic tool of Kinesiology Muscle Testing to identify what will nourish the body and spirit whilst integrating these positive life changes. My belief that Self-Empowerment is the key to Health & ellbeing is the guiding principle my treatments and teachings.

In summary, I would say that there are many different ways to support the bodily systems to heal any condition. Sometimes – minerals, nutrition or ‘food sensitivity’ is the key to better health – release of old hurts and traumas often provides the solution for many to move on. For others the realisation of Self as a spiritual being is the greatest means to empower health over the long term. Whatever condition is brought to a session, the model used is basically the same – the body/spirit is communicating that toxicity of either a chemical, energetic and emotional nature needs releasing and that there is a need to nourish and self-support in new or reclaimed ways - to restore the natural balance within. It is my role to identify these needs and to support my clients to heal and support themselves. Ultimately, I am here to facilitate people to reclaim their acceptance, empowerment & love of SELF.

I run a monthly clinic and classes at Shiva Health. The treatments cost £50 for 1 hour and £70 for 90mins. (There are some 30min & 45min treatments available too). There are a limited amount of treatment times available so please book early to avoid disappointment.
