Diet should become a lifestyle rather than a finite amount of time |
There are so many “do’s and don’ts” these days many people feel confused about what they should be eating and when. It’s easy to misunderstand the term “diet”. Diet should be a lifestyle rather than a finite amount of time during which, for the most part you can feel miserable and deprived. Each individual is different; you may have an extremely active lifestyle or work may demand you sit down for most of the day. Whatever your lifestyle nutrition and weight management consultations will help you relax about food and enjoy your “diet”!
Zest4Life is a nutrition and weight loss group for men and women that focuses on the principles of the revolutionary GL Diet. It is an interactive, weekly weight loss and nutrition programme delivered in a group setting that focuses on health, vitality, nutrition, psychology and weight loss for people who need professional support and motivation. It is for people who want to improve their knowledge and understanding of good nutrition for themselves and their families.
GL – Glycaemic Load is a further development of the current Glycaemic Index – studied and developed by Patrick Holford. It concentrates on the effect that different foods have on the blood sugar – it looks at how to balance blood sugar and stop the body turning excess sugar into stored fat.
Patrick Holford founded The Institute for Optimum Nutrition in 1984 and is most widely known for his best selling books ‘The Optimum Nutrition Bible’ and ‘The Holford Low GL Diet’. He is a regular guest on GMTV and Tonight with Trevor MacDonald.
The Zest4Life programme will be launched Tiffins Boys School, Kingston on Tuesday 27th November 2007, 7 - 8.30pm with a seminar covering basic nutrition information and an in-depth introduction to The Holford Low GL Diet. There will be a question and answer session with Patrick Holford.
Following this, there will be a weekly Zest4Life sessions, every Tuesday at Shiva Health in Kingston. These will be run by mother and daughter team Hilary and Rachel Denyer.
There will also be guest speakers throughout the course including Abigail Denyer – nutrition consultant, Personal Trainers, and Image Consultants. Attendees will also qualify for discounts with many other complementary therapists.
There is expected to be a large turnout for the nutrition seminar with Patrick and therefore pre-booking is advised.
Next course - Wed 9th January, 6.30 - 8.30pm (11 weeks)
Consultations will take you through how a “typical day”, looking at how active you are, what kind of foods you like and what your goals are (and of course how you sustain these goals!). You will look at how much of your diet needs to be made up of carbohydrates, fats and proteins and whether, depending on your lifestyle, if there are any extra dietary components that would be beneficial for you.
