After my children were born I became fascinated with the workings of the minds and bodies of young children. Children are so intelligent, so complex and yet so simple. My studies and research have led me to believe that health, intelligence and well-being are largely built from conception to two years. This critical period is often a time of great anxiety and confusion for families and with this in mind, I have built the Optimum Baby Development Course.
The course is designed to give parents deeper insights into the hearts and minds of their young children. If we can better understand our children then we can better nurture their growth. Also, to be the parent we want to be, we need to nurture our own bodies and emotional health. This is the first post natal course which looks at the baby as a whole – where there is detailed discussion of a baby’s mind and body and where the parent’s needs are also valued.
A range of tools and techniques will be practiced that will help parents to read and respond to their babies behaviour and communications. The focus is on appreciating a baby’s developmental needs and creating an environment that promotes physiological and psychological brain development. My sincere belief is that every child is a genius waiting for their genius to be freed. My aim is to help parents obtain the knowledge and confidence to unleash their child’s potential.
I passionately believe in the critical period that is early childhood and I am committed to campaigning for the needs of young children to be understood. I am a member of the following: Detoxing Childhood Campaign (led by Sue Palmer and Dr Richard House), The Arnica Parents Group, Parenting UK, The Alliance for Childhood, Pre-school Learning Alliance, British Association of Early Childhood Education and a former trustee of Parentline Plus. I continue with my formal study of early childhood and I am continually delighted and inspired by all the smiling and crying young children that I meet.
