...a combination of traditional Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and modern hypnotherapy techniques |
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy (CBH) is a combination of traditional
hypnosis and cognitive behavioural therapy.
Hypnosis induces a heightened state of awareness in which the subconscious
mind becomes very receptive to beneficial suggestions. Positive changes
can occur by utilising this natural power of the mind in a clinical setting.
It is a brief, goal-orientated form of therapy in which the therapist works
in partnership with the client.
CBH is focused mainly on the present and helps the client to create healthy
and realistic alternatives to current problematic thoughts, emotions and
behaviours.
CBH offers proven techniques for solving problems. It is based on the philosophy
that people are disturbed, not by the events that happen to them, but by
the beliefs they hold relating to the events. The therapist works closely
with the client to identify any deep-seated, unhelpful beliefs that may
lie at the heart of the problem. The therapist and the client then work
together to weaken the unhelpful beliefs and to create new helpful beliefs.
The new beliefs then create healthier thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
Ultimately, CBH helps people to develop a philosophy and approach to living
that can increase effectiveness and happiness in all areas of life.
Treatment
Consultations usually take one hour. The number of sessions will depend
on the nature of the problem. The breaking of certain habits, such as smoking,
will usually take one or two sessions, whereas lifelong problems may need
a series of consultations.
An interactive technique is used, beyond pure suggestion, combining a heightened
state of awareness, NLP and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. The subconscious
is persuaded to reprogram its ‘software’ because a problem no
longer serves a useful purpose.
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy is effective in any condition where emotional
or psychological factors are involved or where behaviour patterns or habits
need to be changed.

Thyroid: "I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid and after 4 sessions Nicola discharged me. I went back to see my consultant and my levels are normal. He was very surprised and even congratulated me. I had readings over 30.8 (the normal being 5) and I now have 5 ! I was diagnosed only 5 months ago and it was back to normal. What surprised him most was the speed of the drop-it can take 2 years and often never reach normal. I feel that together, we managed to heal the body with a gentle persuasion." Jemma Churchill, Actress
Skiing Phobia: "You'll be delighted to know that our 2 week skiing holiday was a complete success. I skied almost every day and more importantly actually enjoyed the experience! I can't thank you enough for the profound effect having hypnotherapy has had on me. I'm already looking forward to my next chance to get on the slopes." Charley K
Acting: Nicola helped with issues such as
feeling confident when going for job interviews, something actors always
agonise about but just end up praying to anyone to save them from the nerves
and useless readings! And learning lines. And very importantly because she
knows that actors are often out of work with very little spare cash, she
charges a reduced rate for actors. This made the visits possible for me.
It was real practical everyday help and I found I was even able to self
hypno on the train - AND get off at the right stop. Nicola was always exceedingly
professional and a great listener." Jemma Churchill, Actress
